Community Healthlink Reopens Clinical Support Services Program

UMass Memorial Health – Community Healthlink announced today that it has reopened its Clinical Support Services (CSS) program. CSS – formerly known as PASSages – is a post-detox program that provides short-term (up to 30 days), intensive treatment for individuals in the early stages of substance use recovery.

Last year, CHL leadership made the difficult but necessary decision to suspend three of its continuum programs – Transitional Support Services (TSS), Clinical Support Services (CSS) and Detox following discussions with the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services. It was not a decision CHL took lightly, as we recognized the urgent need for these services across our community. However, we are confident that this course of action was in the best interests of clients and caregivers and would allow for the time needed to resolve existing challenges.

The reopening of CSS demonstrates the significant progress we’ve made with our continuum programs:

  • We reopened TSS in April and operations continue to run smoothly.
  • We are reopening CSS today.
  • We have conducted the caregiver recall as part of the process for reopening Detox. We anticipate reopening Detox by the end of the summer.

The leaders who have spearheaded the reopening of CSS are Vice President Stephanie Manzi, Senior Director Allen McLeod, Program Director Jazz Blair and Nurse Manager Ashley LaFountain. The facilities team, led by Dan Kosmider, have worked hard to refresh the space and furnishing to make it a truly welcoming environment for our staff to work and our future clients to receive treatment.

Thank you and congratulations to the CSS team for their hard work to bring back online a vital community service!
