Lipton Academy is an approved, private, special education school operated under the auspices of the Massachusetts Department of Education. The program has been in operation for 10 years and has served more than 300 adolescents.
Lipton Academy provides a small, supportive environment for the child experiencing emotional difficulties. The school will accept up to 30 individuals ages 10-19. The program offers children an individualized educational program at their respective grade level while assisting them in dealing with difficult issues.
Lipton Academy treats children with mental health issues that impede their success in a public school setting. Issues that Lipton Academy treats include bi-polar disorder, depression/anxiety; attention deficit disorder; PTSD; OCD; Asperger’s syndrome; children involved with the Department of Mental Health or that have been hospitalized.
The Lipton Academy features multi-modality instruction adaptable to different learning styles for individuals and small group instruction. Classroom instruction conforms with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, including MCAS preparation. Individual psychotherapy with adolescent specialists and daily group therapy on self-esteem, anger management, family issues are also featured. Medication evaluation/management by staff psychiatrists is available, if needed. |
