Nuevos Horizontes is the only Latino Day program for adults in Central Massachusetts. It is an innovative model that integrates a day program component with community outreach and support services. Latino rehabilitation specialists work closely with Latino therapists and psychiatrists to deliver services to Spanish-speaking clients.
Established in 1996, the program helps consumers who suffer from long-term mental illness to identify and achieve goals, develop skills to solve everyday problems, cope with the symptoms of their illness, and learn to negotiate systems. Consumers are encouraged to gain basic language skills, and to develop competency in socialization, community living, and pre-vocational rehabilitation skills.
Nuevos Horizontes is a program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH). Clients must be Department of Mental Health-eligible.
